Dear Reader,
The aim of these study notes is to help you not only to discover your position in Jesus Christ, but also to understand what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. You will discover that our Lord Jesus never refers to His disciples on any other ground than that of disciples of His kingdom. He said to them, Therefore every teacher and interpreter of the Sacred Writings who has been instructed about and trained for the kingdom of heaven and has become a disciple is like a householder who brings forth out of his storehouse treasure that is new and old." Matt. 13:52 Once in India, I was challenged through an old disciple of Jesus when he asked me: “What will Christ asked you when you stand before Him at the judgement day?” While I was still pondering upon the answer, he said: “He will surely ask you: 'where are your disciples?'” (Matt.28;19.)
These notes are therefore aimed at sincere students of God’s word, whose aim it is to be well pleasing to Jesus their Lord. Since my own experience is that of a long search for meaning in life and now at the age of 67 years I look back with deep utter amazement at the overflowing grace our heavenly Father has bestowed upon me.
It was in February 1964 when I entered the kingdom of Jesus Christ, through the new birth. It will always remain as a lasting impression on my heart; with what joy and assurance I laid hold of this free gift, which Jesus Christ promised to anyone who accepts His invitation to receive it as a gift from his Father. Now forty-five years later since that day, I confess with boldness that King Jesus, and His kingdom has filled my whole horizon. Each of us is destined to be walking monuments of His grace. Surely life is an adventure, but only in sweet fellowship with Jesus in His Kingdom.
For many years I have gathered these materials from the pens of different authors, some going back to the 16th century. Now I have a deep urgency in my heart to pass this on to you, who are in search for a solid spiritual foundation, which is Jesus Christ and His Kingdom alone. The conviction of my heart is summed up in the words of Paul: “I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to unwise.” Rom 1:14
With the help of precious friends, I put these notes into your hands, coming from humble believers, who were motivated by the love of Jesus for this seeking world.
Because of the fact that I realize my own shortcomings and that these notes are not complete, I want you to see it as truths that in the coming years will unfold more and more.
Read and study prayerfully through these kingdom notes. Since the manifestation and the proclamation of the Kingdom of God was the Mission of Jesus our Lord, I pray that every student of these notes will follow in His steps by making His mission your sole and only vision! 'But he said, "I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent." Luke 4;43
