SEVEN PROFOUND GUIDEPOSTS
|
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. |
|
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden." (Matt. 5;13,14.) |
1. Someone has said that Jesus' teaching about His Kingdom is the spinal column, the backbone in which all the bones of teaching and action cohere and have their meaning. Take the Kingdom out and it becomes incoherent, a mass of unrelated bones.
The kingdom of God would be meaningless unless we could see in a Person, the order embodied and illustrated. In Him is included His teaching, His doing, His death, His resurrection, His giving the Holy Spirit, and His coming again.
2. Jesus is the revelation of what God is like and what the Kingdom is like. And more still: When "you dwell within this revelation He has brought,... you shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free.... If then the Son sets you free, you will indeed be free" (John 8:31,36) When I'm in his kingdom I'm in my homeland, I'm free--at home. All other freedoms seem bondage--this is free indeed.
If you put one point of the compass on Him, who embodies the Unshakable Kingdom and is the Unchanging Person, then you let the other point go where it will. You're free, because you're bound to Him!
3. Abide in Him, do not run in and out, but dwell within the revelation he has brought and you will be guided in keeping your strategy straight and then if you make mistakes in strategy, you can absorb them and go on your way rejoicing, absorb them by His forgiveness and by forgiving yourself. Go on your way rejoicing! "For whatever is born of God conquers the world" (I John 5:4).
There is no place where Jesus and His Message is not in place. And this is the place where we don't argue and speculate, but witness from personal testimony. The lifestyle of Paul testifies to this fact: “For two years Paul stayed in a rented house and welcomed everyone who came to see him. He bravely preached about God's kingdom and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ, and no one tried to stop him. Act 28:30,31 Take note that he was a prisoner in Rome!
4. This is the open door for the future: "Behold I have set before you an open door which no man can shut." The open door is a total message for the total man and total society in their total relationships. We can't offer less, for He offered this. "He that gathers not with me scatters." The time has gone for trifling but the time is ripe for testimony. This is the hour for the laymen in the Church, to proclaim in word and deed, the King and His kingdom.
5. The modem man is empty--he knows everything about life except how to live it. And this emptiness is increasing and will increase. This emptiness of man is the greatest key in the mission field we have ever had since the world began.
6. You must be kingdom-minded first and secondarily denomination minded, because your primary allegiance determines and controls your secondary allegiance. But you can't be primarily de- nomination-minded and secondarily Kingdom-minded, for you will loose the Kingdom in making it secondary.
7. The nobodies in the Church have become the some bodies, because they represent Someone and something--the Unchanging Person and the Unshakable Kingdom. Now we must witnesses before peasant and politician, before the ruled and the rulers, and do what he said we must do: "Make all nations my disciples." This is the biggest business in the world.
The Characteristic of a Kingdom disciple is that they have become a spiritual father or spiritual mother to young believers. Let us look at 8 characteristics
Developing of a trust relationship between spiritual father and son.
Setting an example of the deeper meaning of a daily quiet time.
Help him to develop an exiting way of Bible study.
Guide him to a home cell where he will develop his God given gifts.
Make him part of your witness and missions program.
Lead him to discern between evil and good.
Be yourself under all circumstances.
He needs to observe as much as possible how you behave in different spheres of life.
“The gospel of the Unshakable Kingdom and the Unchanging Person is the biggest and most challenging thing ever introduced to this planet.”
